Why is the option period the most important phase for a homebuyer?

The option period is written into a real estate contract to give the buyer a specified number of days – generally 5 to 10 – to have a home inspected, find issues, and get quotes to have the problems fixed.

Inspection of the homes foundation (either concrete slab or pier & beam) should be at the top of your list.

Within the option period, a buyer can amend their offer, requesting repairs for the problems they want the seller to fix. It is intended to give the buyer time to learn more about the home through independent inspections and appraisals, to negotiate repairs. The butter had the option to terminate the contract and be refunded their earnest money .
